Allahabad HC extends order of not demolishing govt buildings

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday extended its order restraining the Uttar Pradesh government from demolishing or making any new construction in government buildings in the state capital till further orders.
A Division Bench comprising Justice A N Verma and Justice S N Shukla extended its interim order on a petition filed by Mithilesh Kumar Singh and directed the matter to be listed for further hearing in the first week of December.
The petitioner had sought a directive from the court to the state government not to demolish or make new constructions at Satkar Bhavan, Ambedkar Park and Ramabai Rally Sthal and other government buildings situated at Mall Avenue, where state Chief Minister Mayawati's residence is also located.
The court, in its order, had said that except maintenance and renovation, no other activities would be permitted at government buildings situated in the city.
